Shanghai, the largest and metropolitan city in China, is situated on the estuary of Yangtze River of Eastern China. It has a peculiar history as the Paris of China, and the oriental gem. When one talks about Shanghai, it can not miss the Bund, which is the symbol of Old Shanghai.

Huangpu River, as a most important shipping artery, is 114 kilometers long, 400 meters wide and has an average depth of nine meters. It is the birthplace of Shanghai, the mother river of Shanghai. The Bund, also called Zhongshan Road, is a famous waterfront of Huangpu River regarded as the symbol of Shanghai for hundreds of years. It was home to foreign consulate offices, banks, businesses and newspaper offices in old days, and their architectural patterns are similar. When walking along the Bund, one can spot the Oriental Pearl TV Tower and the Jin Mao Tower which stand in the other side of Huangpu River.
Yuyuan Garden
Yuyuan Garden dates back to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644),it was started out as a private garden created by Pan Yunduan, who built it for his parents in their old age. He named the garden Yuyuan since yu means peace and health in Chinese. And it is built in a style of the renowned Suzhou gardens, which are characterized by an exquisite layout, beautiful scenery and artistic architecture.
City God Temple (Cheng Huang Miao)
Next to the Yu Garden, the City God Temple was built in the fifteenth century during the Ming Dynasty. It is a busy market today, specializing in traditional arts and crafts. People like to go there in Lantern Festival to see beautiful lanterns and also play guessing games; it's a tradition in China.
Jade Buddha Temple
Jade Buddha Temple, which was first founded in 1882, contains two Jade Buddha statues --the "Sitting Buddha" and "Sleeping Buddha"--that were imported to Shanghai from Burma by sea. The two precious statues are not only rare cultural relics but also porcelain art works; they attract many tourists to come every year.
Nanjing Road
This Street passes through the city¡¯s center and is its busiest market. Along the street are more than 340 stores, including the city¡¯s largest department store, food store, medical shop, clothing store, and bookstore. Many people, especially youngsters form other place like to visit here to enjoy the shopping.
Shanghai Museum
Known as the Museum of Ancient Chinese Art, the Shanghai Museum has a collection of over 120,000 pieces of cultural relics, it is especially famous for its bronze, ceramics and paintings and calligraphic treasures. It has a collection of over 200,000 volumes of books; also the museum boasts many research departments.
Great taste
Shanghai cuisine is epitomized by the use of spirits, strong alcohol. Fish, eel, crab, and chicken are drunk with spirits and usually served raw. Salted meats and preserved vegetables are also commonly used to spice up the dish. And the use of sugar is common.
A famous snack in Shanghai, in Mandarin: Xiao Long Bao (literally: ¡°small steamer bun") cooked in a small bamboo steamer is quite popular in china.
